Meriden, Conn. (WTIC Radio) - Christmas tree growers have been preaching to customers to purchase their tree early if they can this year.

A combination of weather factors--heat out west, rain in the east--as well as supply chain hassles in some parts have customers concerned, says the executive director of the Connecticut Christmas Tree Growers Association.
Kathy Kogut says heat out west and a late frost in Canada are a couple of issues facing trees trucked in from out of state.
She also says the rainy weather around here unleashed a root rot in some trees, as well.
Kogut says her farm in Meriden as well as others across the state should have ample inventory.
She says it's the trees that come from elsewhere that roadside operators or fundraisers depend on that could be in short supply this year.
Kogut says it's best to contact the farm ahead of time to make sure the type of tree you're looking for is in stock.
