BRIDGEPORT, Conn. (WTIC Radio) - A federal trial begins today for Kostas Diamantis, the former Lamont Administration deputy budget director who is accused of accepting bribes in exchange for the releasing of no-bid school construction contracts.
Diamantis has been indicted on 22 counts, including bribery and extortion.
His defense attorney, Norm Pattis, has added Governor Lamont as a possible witness in the trial. It's unclear whether Lamont will actually take the stand. The Governor's Office did not comment on the matter.
The trial begins at 9:15 a.m. Monday at the Bridgeport Federal Courthouse.
