HARTFORD, Conn. (WTIC Radio) - Governor Lamont is directing U.S. and state flags in Connecticut lowered to half-staff from sunrise to sunset on Monday, November 4, 2024, in honor of Botsford Fire Rescue Assistant Chief Pete Blomberg, who died in the line of duty.
A funeral service in First Assistant Chief Blomberg’s honor is scheduled to be held on Monday at St. Rose of Lima Roman Catholic Church in Newtown.
Blomberg was struck and killed by a pickup truck while walking to a meeting Monday night, hours after a fallen Wethersfield volunteer firefighter, Robert Sharkevich, Sr., was laid to rest.
ho was killed in a UTV crash while responding to the Hawthorne Fire in Berlin.
