HARTFORD, Conn. (WTIC Radio) - The City of Hartford is opening up its warming centers as a period of severe cold weather returns to Connecticut.
The response is to a drop in temperatures forecast from Monday to Wednesday.
The only two four locations that are open for the holiday on Monday are the South End Senior Center on Maple Avenue (daily 8:30 a.m. - 3:30 p.m.) and the North End Senior Center on Coventry Street (daily 8:30 a.m. - 5 p.m.), Center Church on Gold Street, and Holy Trinity Church on Capitol Avenue.
Center Church will be open from 5 p.m. on Monday until 9 a.m. on Wednesday. Their regular hours span 8 p.m. to 8 a.m., seven days a week.
Holy Trinity Church opens at 5 p.m. on Monday and closes Wednesday at noon. Normal hours are 7 p.m. to 7 a.m. and resume on Wednesday.
The City's libraries are also a warming resource when open.
