Hartford, Conn./WTIC Radio - The Hartford police officer seriously injured in a fatal collision that took the life of his partner is now out of the hospital.
Officer Brian Kearney was released Wednesday from St. Francis Hospital to the applause from scores of his fellow officers and medical staff.
He'd been hospitalized since last Wednesday when the police vehicle he was driving and that Detective Bobby Garten was a passenger in was rammed on Asylum Avenue by a driver fleeing a traffic stop on Broad Street.
Kearney sustained serious injuries.
He left the hospital in a wheelchair with a cast on his right leg, dressed in a t-shirt and shorts.
Meantime, police are expected to have more details later this week on the wake and funeral for Detective Garten.
