Farmington, Conn. (WTIC Radio)-Congressman John Larson said that bills before the House regarding student loan relief, "are in the pipeline for discussion."
Larson said he favors the Action Plan, where for every year of service to your country, you receive two years of in-state college tuition.
Larson said he believes students have the responsibility of re-paying loans. But he said minimally, possibly the interest can be eliminated.
Regarding Social Security, Larson said he hopes Republicans and Democrats can come together and reach agreement. He said the last time Congress took action Richard Nixon was President.
"65 million Americans rely on Social Security and ten thousand Baby Boomers become eligible on a daily basis. If no action is taken, in 2034
Social Security will only pay out 80-percent", Larson said.
Larson said a plan ties the minimum payment to 125 perent of the poverty level. After six nationwide public hearings, Larson said the matter is before the Ways and Means Committee.
Larson was a guest on Brian and Company, mornings on WTIC 1080.
