WETHERSFIELD, CONN (WTIC RADIO)- Governor Ned Lamont has proposed legislation he said will make government perform stronger while saving money, allowing councils of government and municipalities to partner to purchase resources and services.
Mayor Ken Lesser said the bill "allows us to share services to work between towns. We're already doing that. Our town
is working with Newington on an animal control and sharing a building official. These efficiencies create better government, a more high-performing government."
Officials said the measure does not infringe on collective bargaining rights
or violate town charters.
Lamont said the measure allows a town to get the level of expertise they need without paying for more than that.
The measure first heads to the Planning and Development Committee in the legislature.
