VERNON, Conn. (WTIC Radio) - Vernon Police arrest a man in connection with a crash that killed a pedestrian in June earlier this year.
Police are charging Stephen Lewis, 34, of Manchester, with second-degree assault, misconduct with a motor vehicle, distracted driving, and failure to exercise reasonable care when near a vulnerable user on a public way.
Lewis was driving a 2004 Toyota Sienna when the crash happened around 9:30 a.m. on Wednesday, June 12, 2024, according to police.
Two pedestrians were hit in the area of Warren Avenue, near the Vernon Rails-to-Trails.
Police say one of the pedestrians, Anna Krocheski, 81, of Tolland, later died at Hartford Hospital.
Lewis is being held on a $75,000 bond.
