Hartford, Conn./WTIC Radio - An East Hartford man has pleaded guilty in a case involving stolen catalytic converters.

Bryant Bermudez pleaded guilty to charges of conspiracy and three counts of interstate transportation of stolen property.

Prosecutors say the 31-year-old Bermudez and a cohort bought stolen catalytic converters from thieves then, in turn, transported those converters to recycling businesses in New York and New Jersey.

Bermudez was working for an East Hartford recycling company at the time.

Some of those trips netted payments in excess of $200,000.

The precious metals inside a catalytic converter can fetch anywhere from $300-to-$1500.

Bermudez is looking at over 30 years in prison on all counts when he's sentenced in July.
