Middletown, Conn./WTIC Radio - A Middletown man is facing charges he used bogus signatures in an attempt to get his name on a primary ballot two years ago.
Robert Hoggard, 33, allegedly submitted the forged petition signatures to the Democratic Registrar of Voters.
Hoggard was attempting become eligible for the state House primary in the 33rd district.
He was not chosen as the party endorsed candidate and submitted the petitions containing forged signatures, according to the results of a State Elections Enforcement Commission investigation.
Hoggard was required to sign the petition forms before a notary public ensuring their validity.
Several electors reported that they did not sign the forms, according to the Chief State's Attorney's office.
Hoggard faces 14 counts of forgery and six counts of perjury.
He's free on a written promise to appear.
