MIDDLETOWN, Conn. (WTIC Radio)_ Middletown Police announce multiple arrests in connection with the homicide of Tylon Hardy in 2021.
U.S. Marshals arrested Matthew O'Banner, 20, of Middletown, while he was hiding in New Jersey. O'Banner was extradited from New Jersey to Connecticut and was arraigned Tuesday at Middlesex Superior Court. Bond is $2-million.
The United States Postal Service Office of the Inspector General helped Middletown Police locate and arrest O'Banner's mother, Michelle Sanders, 54, of Middletown. Charges against Sanders include tampering with evidence and interfering with officers. Sanders was taken into custody subsequent to an arrest warrant on August 9, 2021, and was initially held on a $250,000 bond.
On Thursday, Middletown Police arrested O'Banner's girlfriend, Alexandra Vazquez, 21, for allegedly interfering with the investigation. Vazquez was initially held on a $100,000 bond.
Middletown Police also arrested Nahkyn Durazzo, 21, who allegedly was present and involved in the shooting that led to the killing of Hardy and the injuring of another victim. Durazzo was arrested on June 3, 2021. Durazzo is charged with violation of probation. Bond is $75,000.
