NEW HARTFORD, Conn. (WTIC Radio) - Connecticut State Police say a New Hartford man has been arrested in connection with a break-in at the Ann Antolini Elementary School in town.

Troopers responded around 12:42 a.m. Monday to a general purpose alarm at the school on Antolini Drive.

Adam Wesolowski, 39, of New Hartford, was found shirtless outside of the nearby Nepaug Fire Department.

When troopers asked Wesolowski about his presence in the area, he explained that he was walking in the woods and had lost his flashlight and shirt. When asked if he was near the school, he said he had not been near the building.

A trooper remained on site with this male while other units proceeded to check the alarm at the school.

Shortly thereafter, Troopers located an unsecured window on the school property. Based upon that finding, Wesolowski was detained as the investigation continued.

A pat down search led to the discovery of two separate types of prescription medication in his pockets. Wesolowski explained that the medication was not prescribed to him.

A subsequent search within the school led to the discovery of recently consumed food within the kitchen. Additional food waste, writing utensils and a single black sock was observed at the front entrance of the Nepaug Fire Department surrounding a lawn chair.

Given these findings, Wesolowski was again asked if he was at the Elementary School, at which point he admitted to entering the school through a window. Wesolowski further admitted to taking food, drinks, pens and a folding lawn chair from the school.

Wesolowski has been charged with failure to keep narcotics in the original container, possession of a controlled substance, third-degree burglary, and sixth-degree larceny.

Wesolowski was later released from custody on a $5,000 bond and is scheduled to appear at Torrington Superior Court on October 14, 2025.

State Police say the school's administration was advised of this incident.
