Flags across Connecticut have been ordered to be flown at half-staff on this
eleventh anniversary of the shooting deaths of 26 people at the Sandy Hook
Elementary School in Newtown.
In his order to lower the flags, Governor Ned Lamont calls the tragedy "one of the worst in our history." Lamont's statement concludes that in the memory of the 20 children and six educators who were killed, he urges people across the state to dedicate themselves to "being sources of love, healing, joy, and humanity."
Newtown area State Senator Tony Hwang has also released a statement on this anniversary, saying this is a time to "pause to remember." "Each day," says Hwang, " is a testament to the spirit of Newtown’s resilient residents."
