NEW BRITAIN, Conn. (WTIC and AP) — One person has been killed and several others have been injured in an early morning fire in a New Britain apartment building.
Fire Chief Raul Ortiz says the fire was reported shortly before 2 a.m. He says it was burning on the top floor of the six-story building when firefigthers arrived.
Ortiz says firefighters rescued three or four people people and worked with police to alert others to the danger, but one person was killed.
The victim’s identity was not immediately released. Mayor Erin Stewart says she is “devastated" by the news of the person’s death.
