Hartford, Conn./WTIC Radio - With temperatures this weekend hard pressed to get out of the 20s, Hartford is opening several temporary daytime warming centers through Sunday.

Mayor Arunan Arulampalam said “We’re already experiencing dangerous and frigid conditions all weekend with low wind chill, and we want to make sure every Hartford resident has easy access to a place they can go to stay warm.”

He urges those in need of, or seeking information on, shelters to call 2-1-1.

Earlier this week, Governor Lamont activated Connecticut's cold weather protocol for the first time this year to run through Monday at noon.

State agencies, municipalilties and the United Way 2-1-1 are working in concert to get services to those in need.
