Newington, Conn./WTIC Radio - In Newington, police are charging 18 people for their alleged parts in an illegal street takeover from the summer.
The incident occurred on July 12.
Just before 6:00 p.m., police were tipped off that a large group of riders on ATVs, dirt bikes, mopeds, and motorcycles was headed to Newington from Hartford.
In all, police say there were around 200 vehicles in the group, many performing dangerous stunts and disobeying traffic laws.
They say vehicles that weren't involved became stuck in traffic at the intersection of the Berlin Turnpike and Prospect Street.
Some riders drove up on the grass of local businesses.
All of the suspects are facing numerous motor vehicle charges.
