Hamden Police say a Quinnipiac University student attacked a roommate with a knife after an argument about a light in their room.
Police responded around 3 a.m. Friday to a report of a possible fight between two students in a dorm.
The victim told police he was asleep when his roommate jumped on top of him and started punching him in the face, before cutting his throat. The 20 year old suffered what's described as a "large laceration" to his neck.
Officers were able to negotiate with the roommate to secure the knife. The roommate was then detained.
Both students were transported to Yale New Haven Hospital for evaluation and treatment.
No identities were released.
