Hartford, Conn./WTIC Radio - The Connecticut Board of Regents has chosen an interim chancellor for the Connecticut State Colleges and Universities System.
The board has tapped Natalie Braswell to head CSCU for now.
Braswell is a former state comptroller who currently serves as General Counsel to Governor Lamont.
She takes over a system that has been rocked by scandal.
Former Interim Chancellor John Maduko was placed on leave before he resigned last month.
He was accused of sexual harassment.
Maduko had replaced former Chancellor Terrence Cheng a year ago when the latter's extravagant spending habits were called into question.
In choosing Braswell, interim Board of Regents Chair Ari Santiago said “Natalie brings a pragmatic, action-oriented approach and a proven ability to take on complex challenges during times of transition. She has earned the reputation as someone who steps into high-pressure situations, builds trust, and keeps institutions moving forward."
In a statement, Governor Lamont said "time and again, (Natalie) has stepped into challenging situations, tackled tough issues head-on, and delivered results when the stakes were high. She has been one of my closest advisors as we navigated some of the most complex matters facing our state."
And Braswell said "I am honored to step into this role at such an important time for CSCU and for the students and communities this system serves.”
