HARTFORD, Conn. (WTIC Radio) - Trooper First Class Aaron Pelletier was killed in the line of duty a year ago Friday.
Alongside I-84 in southington, trooper pelletier was carrying out a traffic stop when a man ran him over and continued to drive off.
A good samiritan followed that driver, who was ultimately arrested. He accepted a plea deal and was recently sentenced to 18 years in prison.
Pelletier's widow, Dominique, recently led the Connecticut Police Unity Tour, a 300-mile bike ride to Washington D.C. to honor fallen officers.
Trooper Pelletier's name was also recently etched into the Connecticut Police Memorial in Meriden.
