Recent heavy rain is being blamed for the closure of several Connecticut swimming areas where bacteria has been found in the water.
Swimming is prohibited at the West Beach at Rocky Neck State Park in East Lyme, Sherwood Island State Park in Westport, Silver Sands State Park in Milford, and Chatfield Hollow State Park in Killingworth.
Water testing at those state parks will be redone on Wednesday with results expected on Thursday.
