Hospitals limit visits as hospitalizations spike in Connecticut

Hospital visits restricted in second wave

HARTFORD, Conn. (WTIC Radio)_ Some hospital systems in Connecticut are rolling back their visitation restrictions in the second wave of the coronavirus pandemic.

Trinity Health of New England announced on Tuesday that Saint Francis Hospital in Hartford is rolling back to its Phase 1 visitation policy. The hospital will be closed to routine visits until further notice.

Exceptions will be made a child, maternity, or end-of-life patient. Visitors will also be allowed for the facilitation of care, as needed.

Under the plan, only one visitor per patient will be allowed at a time in those special circumstances. Those visitors must be 18 years of age or older. They must also be an immediate family member or a patient healthcare representative. All permitted visitors will be subject to screening prior to entry.

Yale New Haven Health announced a return to similar plans today.

Connecticut reported a 6.74% test positivity rate Tuesday. 52 more hospitalizations were added, raising the statewide hospitalization number to 548. Nine more deaths were logged in 24-hours.
