Special election to fill the State Representative seat in Ledyard, Montville, and Norwich

HARTFORD, Conn. (WTIC Radio) - Governor Lamont orders a special election to fill the seat left empty, after the recent death of Democratic State Representative Kevin Ryan.

Rep. Ryan represented the district comprising of Ledyard, Montville, and Norwich.

The special election will take place on Tuesday, January 13, 2026.

Under state law, the Governor has to issue a special election within 10 days of a seat in the General Assembly becoming vacant, and a special election must be held exactly 46 days from the day that the Special Election date is issued.

Rep. Ryan served his district in southeastern Connecticut since 1993 until he died last weekend.
