Hartford, Conn./WTIC Radio - Portions of Connecticut are now under a Stage 2 drought advisory.
The advisory covers Fairfield, Middlesex, and New Haven counties.
State officials says this is due to a significantly low streamflow in water bodies as a result of a lack of rain.
Stage 2 represents the awareness stage of drought advisories under the State Drought Plan.
“Warmer conditions and the lack of a significant amount of rain over these last few months have impacted all of Connecticut, particularly the regions around Fairfield, Middlesex, and New Haven counties,” said Governor Lamont.
That means residents are urged to reduce outdoor watering during daytime, minimize overall use by fixing plumbing and leaky pipes, and to only run washing machines and dishwashers when they're full.
In addition, individuals and business are urged to following any local conservation requests that may be issued by municipalities.
