Vernon, Conn. (WTIC Radio) - Residents east of the Connecticut River have another site where they can get tested for COVID-19.

With obtaining a home test kit a still a challenge for some, those on hand for this rollout in Vernon say citizens who utilize it can get their results much quicker.
The site will be open at the town's parks and recreation center 40 hours weekly.
It's a joint effort between the town, Jackson Labs in Farmington and Griffin Hospital.
Deputy state public health commissioner Heather Aaron says testing, in many respects, is just as important as getting vaccinated.
Lieutenant Governor Susan Bysiewicz says positivity numbers are finally begining to trend in the right direction, just over 17-percent from a high of nearly 25-percent just a few days ago.
However, Bysiewicz says that should not be taken as the all clear just yet because that figure is still very high.
