MANSFIELD, Conn. (WTIC Radio)_ Connecticut State Police broke up a party near The University of Connecticut that violated gathering restrictions and other COVID protocol.
State Police responded to call from a resident in Mansfield around 11:24 p.m. on Saturday that there was a large and loud party. Many college-aged students were seen inside the residence.
When police arrived, an estimated 150-200 students were seen exiting the residence. Police saw no mask wearing or social distancing. The state's guidelines currently allow no more than 10 people per gathering.
Three renters at the residence admitted to hosting the party. A ticket was issued to each renter.
UConn, in a statement, says they have not confirmed whether the renters are students: “The University has not yet received information about this incident from the Connecticut State Police, including names of those individuals who were issued the infractions. Receiving this information will enable the University to determine whether or not those cited are UConn students. If they are, the University will address this incident through the student conduct process."
