State Police ramp up holiday weekend detail

Middletown, Conn./WTIC Radio - Connecticut State Police have released 4th of July holiday weekend traffic numbers for the period through 7:00 a.m. Sunday.

Troopers have responded to 3,544 calls for service and assisted 168 motorists.

There were 242 crashes reported, one with serious injury in Stamford and two fatalities, in Greenwich and North Canaan.

In addtion, troopers had made 25 DUI arrests and handed out 182 speeding tickets.

Another 387 infractions had been logged for various other violations including not wearing a seatbelt, unsafe lane changes and following too closely, among others.
