John McDonald tendered his resignation on Thursday.

It was September of 2019 that the trooper's state-issued vehicle collided with a car in Southbury containing the two women, not long after McDonald had left a retirement party for a fellow trooper at a brewery.

McDonald was the subject of a pair of investigations: one on the crash, the other having to do with his involvement in the CSP time-mangement system.

He'd been on administrative leave prior to his resignation.

Following his arrest, McDonald copped a plea in connection with the crash investigation that spared him prison time.
