HARTFORD, Conn. (WTIC Radio) - New Haven Police say a person found inside a vehicle involved in the deadly hit-and-run crash of a toddler in Hartford is being questioned.

Police responded to the area of 36 New Britain Avenue around 10:55 p.m. in response to report of a car hitting a toddler and driving away from the scene.

The one-and-a-half-year-old girl was found unresponsive on the street.

She was rushed to the Connecticut Children's Medical Center in Hartford where she was pronounced dead.

An investigation discovered the toddler wandered out of an open door at a laundromat, going into the roadway.

Police say the suspect car that fled the scene is a 2013 black BMW 328xi, bearing Connecticut registration BD98328.

That vehicle was later found, with someone inside, near a McDonald's restaurant on Kimberly Avenue.

The person being questioned hasn't been identified.

The investigation remains active and ongoing. Anyone with any information regarding the case is asked to call the HPD Tip Line at 860-722-TIPS (8477).
