MERIDEN, Conn. (WTIC Radio) - Connecticut State Police are investigating a deadly crash on I-691 in Meriden.
The crash on the westbound side of the highway near Exit 3 happened around 9:14 p.m. Sunday night.
Investigators believe Javier Rosado-Toro, 35, of Waterbury, was trying to pass a Ford F-350 Super Duty truck in the Dodge Ram 1500 Big Horn truck he was driving.
During the attempted pass on the left, the Ram struck the driver's side of the Ford F-350, causing the Ram to lose control.
The Ram spun out of control across the highway, hit a cable barrier on the right shoulder, and went down an embankment.
Police say Rosado-Toro was ejected from the truck. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver of the Ford was not hurt, but the passenger in that truck was left with suspected serious injuries.
State Police - Troop I are asking any witnesses to come forward to speak with investigators.
