WOODBURY, Conn. (WTIC Radio) - Connecticut State Police are investigating the stabbing of an officer in Woodbury.
Troopers arrested Tyler Wilmot, 31, of Woodbury, who they say allegedly stabbed Officer Tim Wright from the Woodbury Resident Trooper's Office.
When Officer Wright pulled over the Jeep that Wilmot was driving for a traffic stop around 1:30 p.m. Thursday, Wilmot allegedly got out of the vehicle, approached the Officer's cruiser, got into a physical altercation with Officer Wright when he got out, and stabbed Officer Wright in his neck before fleeing the scene on foot.
Officer Wright was able to radio for more backup. Another officer was able to do take basic medical precautions on Officer Wright before he was taken to Waterbury Hospital.
Police caught up with Wilmot, who they tased while placing him under arrest.
Wilmot is facing charges of criminal attempt at murder, first-degree assault, assault on a public safety officer, interference with an officer, operating a motor vehicle without a license, license plate violations, and failure to display plates.
