NEW HAVEN, Conn. (WTIC Radio) - The Yale New Haven Police Benevolent Association (YPBA) votes to authorize a strike against Yale University in its ongoing labor dispute for all non-supervisory patrolmen and detectives.

The YPBA says it has been in in contract negotiations with Yale University since February 7, 2023.

The union says after almost two years of negotiations, Yale University issued a “Last, Best and Final Offer” on November 7, 2024. The YPBA says it countered it on December 7, 2024, which went unanswered until the University decided to declare an impasse on May 20, 2025.

On June 5, the YPBA held a vote to authorize a strike, which required a 2/3 majority vote. It received a 51-0 vote.

The YPBA says it will work to achieve a fair and equitable Contract and will not hesitate to strike.
