(Hartford, Conn. WTIC)-It's early on in the legislative process, but lawmakers are considering
funding options to proceed with the debt-free community college program.
The Legislature's Higher Education and Employment Advancement Committee raised the issue.
Senate Co-Chair Will Haskell says three funding proposals are being considered.
One uses lottery funding. A second taps into $14-million remaining from the
Dalio Foundation. A third would create an endowment within the Board of Regents.
Regents funded the program last year but those funds are now limited.
