WINDSOR (WWJ) - Canadian officials are reporting a big drug bust at the Ambassador Bridge.

In a release out Monday, the Canada Border Services Agency said 8.2 kilograms, or about 18 lbs., of suspected cocaine was seized on the Windsor side of the bridge, which connects the U.S. and Canada over the Detroit River.

It happened February 19, officials said, when a commercial truck was sent for a secondary examination after returning to the U.S.

During that inspection, six bricks of suspected cocaine were allegedly found border agents in the sleeper cab of the trailer. A man from Waterloo was arrested and charged by police, officials said.

The tractor trailer remains under seizure while the investigation continues.

"This seizure demonstrates the hard work and perseverance of our officers who are committed to stopping illegal activity at our borders and to protecting our communities," said Tamara Allard, District Director of Ambassador Bridge Operations for the Southern Ontario Region.

Anyone with information about suspicious cross-border activity is asked to call  the CBSA Border Watch Toll free Line at 1-888-502-9060.
