DETROIT (WWJ) - Three people, including two Detroit police officers, were taken to a hospital after a crash on the city's east side.
The wreck, involving a police cruiser and a black Lexus sedan driven by a 69-year-old woman, happened at around 8:30 a.m. Tuesday at Alter Rd. and Charlevoix, in the area of Chalmers and Mack Ave.
Detroit police said the officers were responding to a call to a Project Green Light location where two kids were reportedly trapped in car.
An investigation found the female driver caused the crash while trying to pass two other vehicles, police said. She apparently didn't see the police cruiser's lights, and her car got t-boned on the passenger's side.
