BIRMINGHAM (WWJ) -- A Birmingham homeowner has been arraigned on multiple misdemeanors for a pool party at his house that stirred up a lot of controversy.
Alex Simpson pleaded not guilty to disorderly conduct, breach of the peace, and public nuisance on Wednesday, July 22.
This comes after prosecutors say he allowed the party to happen at his home on Westchester Way, between Southfield and Cranbrook near Lincoln, on June 13.
A judge set his bond at $1,000.
WWJ's Charlie Langton reported Simpson rented the home to a friend, and while it started out as 50 people in the afternoon, the gathering ballooned to over 150 by the end of the night.
"Cars were parked all over, people were dancing on top of cars, not a lot of clothing either," Langton said.
Angry residents flocked to the City Commission complaining about the profane language in the music playing at the party, and saying they did not feel safe inside their own homes.
Simpson is a lawyer and works as a hearing officer in the city of Birmingham.
