(WWJ) -- For the second time this year, we have a Poweball winner.
A single ticket sold in North Carolina matched all six numbers and won the Powerball jackpot in the Saturday night drawing, according to Lottery officials. The jackpot was an estimated $344.6 million at the time of the drawing with a cash option of $223.3 million.
Saturday's winning numbers were white balls 6, 15, 34, 45, 52, plus Powerball 8, and Power Play multiplier 2X.
The lucky winner has the choice between an estimated annuity of $344.6 million, paid over 30 payments across 29 years, or a lump sum payment of $223.3 million. Both prize options are before taxes.
While more than $300 million is no small prize, this weekend's prize pales in comparison to the jackpot won by a Wisconsin man back in March. A 24-year-old man hit for $768.4 million and opted for a lump sum payment of $477 million. That drawing produced the third-largest jackpot in U.S. lottery history.
While there were no $1 million or $2 million winners in Saturday’s drawing, 23 tickets matched four white balls and the red Powerball to win a $50,000 prize, officials said. Six tickets doubled the prize to $100,000 by including the Power Play® option for an additional $1. In total, there were more than 1.1 million winning tickets across all prize tiers.
For the next drawing on Wednesday, June 5, the Powerball jackpot resets to a guaranteed $40 million; $25.9 million cash value. The 10X multiplier will be in play as part of the Power Play option, since the advertised jackpot is under $150 million.
