(WWJ) The Oakland County Sheriff's Department says 25-year-old Pontiac man who tested positive for COVID-19 is expected to face felonious assault and making terrorist threats on emergency medical staff.
It happened before 10:30 p.m. Friday at McLaren Oakland Hospital in Pontiac.
That's when medical staff say they attempted to treat the patient but he became argumentative and assaulted them, making threats and spitting at them. He was placed in restraints and put in an isolation room.
The victims were a 42-year-old male physician and two male nursing staff, 29 and 32 years old. Unknown is if they will became infected. Experts say the novel coronavirus spreads rapidly through the air when droplets are released, and direct contact with an infected person is especially dangerous.
After being medically cleared by a doctor, the suspect was transported to the Oakland County Jail. He's expected to face criminal charges soon.
