DETROIT (WWJ) -- A pair of Detroit men have been charged in connection with a string of carjackings and armed robberies over the last week, including two outside of Detroit Public School buildings.
The Wayne County Prosecutor's Office says 31-year-old Maruis Edward Robinson and 28-year-old Kevin Terrell Edwards carried out several carjackings and robberies between May 9 and May 13.
They first struck on May 9 around 12:45 p.m., stealing a car from the front of a home in the 8800 block of Stahelin Avenue, near Joy Road on the city's west side, according to prosecutors.

The victim fled the scene on foot without surrendering his car keys. Later that morning, around 9:37 a.m., the suspects approached a woman in the parking lot of David L. Mackenzie Elementary School, at 9600 Wyoming Avenue, produced a weapon and robbed her of her personal belongings and drove off in her vehicle.
Prosecutors say less than 10 minutes later, the defendants approached a woman sitting in her vehicle outside the Charles R. Drew Transition Center, across the street from Mackenzie Elementary and stole her vehicle and belongings as well.
Shortly after 10 a.m. Robinson and Edwards allegedly approached a male victim as he was getting in his car in the area of Joy Road and Greenfield, produced a weapon and stole his belongings and vehicle.
Prosecutors say Robinson and Edwards were arrested by Detroit police after an investigation.
Each defendant is facing more than a dozen charges, including carjacking, three counts of armed robbery, receiving and concealing stolen property over $20,000, receiving and concealing stolen property $1,000 - $20,000, carrying a dangerous weapon, felon in possession of a firearm and eight counts of felony firearm.
Robinson and Edwards were arraigned Thursday in 36th District Court. Both defendants received a $300,000 cash/surety bond. Their next court dates are scheduled for May 28.
