(WWJ) Detroit police have arrested some protesters who were blocking school buses from going to pick up students for summer school.

Those arrested were protesting outside a bus garage on Westwood Street near Glendale, which is near Evergreen and I-96 on the city's westside.

The protesters were put on a police bus and will go to the Detroit Detention Center.

Superintendent Nikolai Vitti said there were about 75 students who were unable to attend classes Monday because protesters block the driveway of another bus garage along Greenfield near Tireman.

For their part, protesters say it's not safe for school to resume in Detroit, especially since the suburban schools remain shuttered. They have said they plan to fight it in court.
