DETROIT (WWJ) - A Detroit woman is jailed on multiple felony counts, accused in the vehicular assault of a pregnant woman in a Burger King parking lot.
Wayne County Prosecutor Kym Worthy has charge 37-year-old Ladonna Marie Boatwright two counts of Assault with Intent to Murder, two counts of Assault with Intent to Do Great Bodily Harm, two counts of Felonious Assault and Assaulting a Pregnant Individual in connection with an incident last Saturday night.
At around 11:20 p.m. Dearborn Heights police officers were dispatched to the 20400 block of W. Warren regarding a fight outside a fast food restaurant. There police found an eight months pregnant woman being treated by paramedics before she was rushed to a hospital.
It's alleged, according to prosecutors, that a verbal argument between Boatwright and the victim escalated into a physical fight, and that the defendant intentionally struck the victim with her vehicle.
Boatwright turned herself into authorities Wednesday morning and was arraigned before 19th District Court Judge Plawecki. She remains in the Wayne County Jail awaiting a probable cause conference is scheduled for July 17, followed by a preliminary examination is set for July 24.
Authorities have not said what the women were fighting about. The victim's name was not released.
