CLINTON TWP. (WWJ) -- A Mount Clemens man could spend more than a decade in prison if he's convicted as charged in connection with a deadly crash involving a pedestrian.

According to the Macomb County Prosecutor's Office, 34-year-old Michael O'Brien was killed in Clinton Township on March 27.

Curtis Eason, 50, allegedly entered a turn lane too early at Elizabeth Road and Groesbeck Highway, hitting O'Brien, who was on foot.

He was taken to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Eason was arraigned in 41B District Court on a charge of operating while intoxicated causing death, which is punishable by up to 15 years in prison.

His bond was set at $100,000 with an alcohol tether required if he is released.

“Our thoughts are with the victim’s loved ones as they mourn this tragic and senseless loss,” said Macomb County Prosecutor Pete Lucido, in a statement. “If you drink, do not get behind the wheel. As alleged in this case, such a decision can have fatal consequences.”

Eason will be back in court Probable Cause Conference on Tuesday.
