(WWJ) Police are investigating a Tuesday night crash near a DTE power plant in Monroe.
Officers found a car in a retaining pond near the DTE plant, completely submerged. Investigators found the driver, later identified as a 24-year-old woman, had left the roadway, struck a fence and ended up in the pond.
Police said they believed the driver was still inside the car when they arrived although the vehicle was invisible underneath the water, so the Monroe County Sheriff's Office Dive Team responded to the scene to assist in locating and recovering the vehicle and driver.
WWJ is awaiting word from police on the status of that driver.
