A family of nine -- and their four pets -- were displaced from their home just 10 days before Christmas after a house fire in Richfield Township Saturday night.
Fire crews responded to the home near Irish and Carpenter Roads around 7:30 p.m. to a home that was 50% engulfed in flames. Nearly 30 firefighters were on scene fighting the blaze. Investigators say the family was not home at the time, but all the pets, including three dogs and one cat, got out alive.
The American Red Cross is assisting the family of three adults and six kids as the investigation into the cause of the fire continues
