Freeway Shooting In Detroit: Driver Fires At Semi-Truck In Apparent Case Of Road Rage

(WWJ) Michigan State Police are investigating a freeway shooting Tuesday morning in Detroit.

Troopers were dispatched to northbound Southfield Freeway exit ramp to Seven Mile at about 6:20 a.m., after a semi-truck driver reported someone shot at him.

A preliminary investigation revealed that the truck was on the exit ramp to 7 Mile, from M-39 northbound, when the driver of a two door passenger car pulled alongside him and fired multiple shots.

The truck driver, Jim Bogus — who was on his way to Oak Park with a shipment of olive oil — believes it was a case of road rage.

"A gentleman was getting on Six Mile Road; I couldn't move to my left to give him room, so he went onto the shoulder," Bogus told WWJ's Charlie Langton. "Apparently he got mad, dropped behind my trailer. Next exit ramp, at Seven Mile Road, he came up the exit ramp, put down his window and shot at me three times."

No one was injured. Two of the bullets penetrated the truck's cab, but did not hit Bogus.

The suspect vehicle was last seen headed westbound on Seven Mile. Police were still looking for him late in the morning.

Troopers shut down the exit ramp for the ongoing investigation.
