DETROIT (WWJ) - A 35-year-old man is facing multiple charges after allegedly murdering a cab driver in Detroit.
Curtis Johnson is expected to be arraigned Friday on charges of first-degree murder, felony murder, armed robbery, felon in possession of a firearm and four counts of felony firearm in connection with the death of 54-year-old Zainul Mohammad, of Hamtramck.
Investigators say Johnson got into Mohammad's cab at 1:17 a.m. on Saturday, May 25 and fatally shot him multiple times in the back of the head, then took off running.
Police responded to the scene, in the 600 block of Collingwood, and observed Mohammed's head was wounded and the inside of his right pants pocket was pulled inside out. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
An investigation by Detroit police resulted in the identification and arrest of Johnson on Wednesday.
