NOVI (WWJ) - Novi police are investigating after a barricaded gunman situation at a mobile home community.
A neighbor calling WWJ Newsradio 950 was shaken up, but it appears no one was hurt in the incident early Monday afternoon, at Old Dutch Farms on Napier Rd, near Grand River Ave.
Novi police told WWJ said that officers responded to the scene on a report of a "distraught" resident with a firearm. Police negotiated with him for about an hour before the man eventually surrendered on his own.
There were no reports of shots fired.
Police said the man is now in protective custody. Details including his name and age were not released.
While police had the area blocked off for safety reasons, with a heavy law enforcement presence in the area, police have since cleared the scene.
It's unclear what prompted the incident or if any charges will be filed as the investigation continues.
