DETROIT (WWJ) -- The Soutfield Freeway is open again after a medical incident caused a crash and closed the freeway for around two hours Thursday evening.
Michigan State Police say around 5:45 they began receiving calls for a traffic incident in the northbound lanes of M-39 near Plymouth Road. Callers believed one of the drivers may have had a heart attack while driving.
EMS arrived to the scene and began CPR on the freeway, but the victim was pronounced dead at a local hospital. No information on the victim has been released and it was unclear how many other vehicles were involved or whether anyone else was injured.
Police shut down the freeway and routed all traffic off at Plymouth. It reopened just before 8 p.m.
Police say they are still investigating the incident.
