LIVONIA (WWJ) - A man who got irate over pizza at Little Caesars will spend 20 days in jail for slapping an employee across the face.
A manager offered a replacement pizza or refund, but that apparently wasn't good enough for Thorpe. Police say he was getting louder and growing angrier, so another store manager called 911.
"I have a customer threatening the other manager," an assistant manager tells the dispatcher. "Oh my God! He just slapped her! I need you right now. He just slapped her!"
While speaking to the manager, police say Thorpe reached across the counter and slapped the woman in the face with such force only one of his feet remained on the ground. After striking the woman, Thorpe pounded his fists together several times and then left the store. The entire interaction was caught on video.
Other customers were in the store at the time but no one intervened. Instead, one customer followed Thorpe out to the parking lot and snapped a photo of his license plate. That information was passed on to police, which ultimately led to Thorpe's arrest.
Thorpe was charged with assault and battery on July 24. He pleaded guilty to the charge two days later and was sentenced to 20 days in jail and ordered to pay $750 in fines and costs.
