WARREN, Mich. (WWJ) -- Police are investigating after a man was shot while driving along 8 Mile Road late Wednesday afternoon.
Authorities say a man was driving a black Jeep Patriot when he was shot in the head, losing control of his vehicle. The vehicle hit a power pole and then crashed into the Suez Motel on 8 Mile between Ryan Road and Dequindre Street on the city's northeast side.
Warren police say seven shots were fired in all. The victim was taken to Detroit Receiving Hospital and is said to be in stable condition, according to WDIV in Detroit.
It is unclear whether road rage or something else led to the shooting.
The case has been handed over to Detroit police for investigation.
8 Mile was closed for more than an hour in that area.
It is the second shooting on 8 Mile in recent months -- a driver was shot late last year near Hoover.
