Man Struck By Passing Cars, Killed After Crashing Truck On I-75

BERLIN TWP. (WWJ) - Police say a man who crashed on I-75 in Monroe County was killed after he exited his truck and was struck by multiple passing vehicles.

The incident happened around 1 a.m. Monday on southbound I-75 just south of South Huron River Drive, in Berlin Township. 

The Monroe County Sheriff's Department says 53-year-old Charles Long, of Brownstown Township, crashed into a road sign and the center median before his 2004 Ford Super Duty pickup truck stopped on the shoulder of the freeway.

Police still aren't sure why, but after the collision Long got out of his pickup truck. While he was outside of his vehicle, Long was struck by two vehicles that passed by the scene. 

Both drivers involved stopped and were questioned by police. Neither was injured. 

The freeway was closed for just over five hours while police were investigating the scene.
